Trouble with Your Outside Faucets?
With the temperatures warming up, outside faucets are a must have, they are super handy. They help gardening projects become easier (who wants to run in and out of the house to get water to water their flowers!?) Outside faucets help the whole family escape from the summer heat by allowing you to be able to hook up sprinklers and/or fill pools. No home is complete without an outside faucet for easy water access. However, outside faucets can be obnoxious to deal with if you happen to run into trouble. Below are some problems that may occur and whether or not you need repairs or replacement.
When to Repair Your Outdoor Faucet:
- Poor Water Pressure – Typically means there is a problem with your plumbing system itself. Call a plumber to come take a look before you replace the whole unit.
- Rust-Coloured Water – Rusty-Coloured water coming from your pipe may be due to build-up sediment, corrosion, rust, or something else which you can most likely get a plumber in to repair before you replace.
- It is Leaking – Leaks are common, and unless it is in a bad spot, it typically can be patched up easily. Keep in mind a continuous leak (dripping) will put your monthly water bills up even if you may think the leak “isn’t that bad”.
When to Replace Your Outdoor Faucet:
- It is Rusted Through – If your whole outdoor faucet is rusted through, there really is not any repairs that can be done to salvage it, you will need to get it replaced.
- Is not Providing Any Water – When your outdoor faucet does not produce water, you will need to call upon a professional plumber to come replace the faucet for you.
