Plumbing Leaks!
What Causes Plumbing Leaks?
Household leaks happen, it’s actually very common. The most important is to find, fix and prevent leaks. The most common household leaks are simply due to age and wear-and-tear.
The Most Common Plumbing Leaks:
Remember, all pipes will leak eventually but there will be several factors that can speed up or slow down the process. A few of the most common things that cause leaks are:
- Broken Seals
- Clogs
- Corrosion
How To Prevent Plumbing Leaks from Happening?
Take good care of your plumbing and treat your pipes well by avoiding chemical drain cleaners, although it often sounds like a quick, easy fix, it isn’t. Drain cleaning chemicals cannot tell the difference between the clog and the pipe, using chemical drain cleaners too frequently will eventually eat away the inside of your pipes. Another thing to avoid is to never use your drains as a garbage can. Basically, by doing so the more likely you are to cause a clog, the more likely you are to cause a leak.
What To Do When You Find a Plumbing Leak?
If the leak is caused by a loose fitting, then you should be able to fix it on your own, but if the leak is caused by a hairline crack / fracture or a burst line, it will probably be a bit tougher to fix. If your pipe actually breaks open, we recommend you getting help from a professional. Professional plumbing technicians can find and fix existing leaks in your home’s plumbing system.
