Ways To Avoid Christmas Plumbing and HVAC Catastrophes!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas is just a couple of days away and whether you are hosting Christmas with a house full of guests, or just enjoying the holidays with your immediate family, one thing you don’t want this Christmas is a plumbing or heating catastrophe! There are several things you can do to prevent plumbing and HVAC problems this holiday season.
Bathroom Plumbing:
- Never use your toilets as a trash can.
- Always have a plunger in every bathroom to deal with minor clogs.
- Install Screens in shower/tub drains to prevent hair/debris from entering your pipes and creating a blockage/clog.
Kitchen Plumbing:
- Never pour grease, oil, or fat down your drains.
- If you have a garbage disposal in your home, avoid putting fibrous foods, bones, grease, and/or non-food items in your garbage disposal.
HVAC Tips:
- Check/replace your HVAC air filter.
- Fix any air leaks, check all windows and doors for drafts and add sealants if necessary.
- Schedule an HVAC maintenance/inspection prior to the holiday season to be sure all of your equipment is running properly.
- Inspect your electrical system prior to putting up Christmas lights / plugging in decorations.
- Check your Carmon monoxide detectors, old or clogged venting can cause a build-up of carbon monoxide in the vents which can prove to be fatal.
