Winter is Coming! Is Your Home Ready?
Winter is approaching, are you ready for the cold, snowy days ahead? Maybe not! But your home should be. Below are some things you can do to prepare your HVAC and Plumbing for winter:
Plumbing:
- Turn off and disconnect all hoses from the outdoor faucets to prevent freeze breaks.
- Protect your pipes by wrapping them with insulation or heat tape where the pipes are exposed to the cold to help prevent freezing.
- If you are going to be away from your home for a length of time, be sure to properly winterize your home and keep the heat set on low to prevent plumbing fixtures from freezing.
- Contact a professional plumber to come out and inspect your homes plumbing to ensure nothing was missed and everything is fixed before it’s too late.
HVAC:
- Use a A/C cover the4 protect your unit from the snow, ice, and other debris.
- Switch your humidifier from summer to winter.
- Change your humidifier pads and air filters to increase the moisture in your home during the dry winter months.
- Open your duct vents to ensure the air flow is optimal.
- Contact a professional HVAC Technician to come out and inspect all your homes heating equipment to ensure everything is running smoothly and don’t give you trouble during the cold winter days.
